UC Riverside’s new business school building recently entered a new phase of construction as construction progresses toward an August 2024 opening.
In late December, the school and construction team celebrated the halfway point of construction, as workers poured the final concrete of the building’s skeleton.
“The superstructure, as we call it, is complete,” said Frank Salhab, project manager for contractor McCarthy Building Companies.
Over the past few months, carpenters, ironworkers and other construction workers have created the building’s concrete and steel frame. These workers finished their work on December 18th, and a new group of craftsmen began work on the project.
The next stage involves the construction of the building’s skin and internal elements such as mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment.
Construction on the new building began last spring and is on schedule, Salhab said.
“With the support of the university, we were able to complete the project on time,” he said.
The four-story, 63,400-square-foot building is being constructed just south of Anderson Hall, which currently houses most of the school’s programs and administrative departments. A new teaching and administration building will provide space and state-of-the-art equipment to meet growing enrollment demands.
