DeLorean Motors reimagines its Port San Antonio headquarters.
San Antonio’s DeLorean Motors Reimagined, an electric car startup that last year sharply scaled back plans to launch its first car, has missed a voluntary deadline for a marketing deal that it hinted at months ago.
The company, which is racing to build an electric version of the iconic sports car made famous by the ’80s movie series Back to the Future, made a “big announcement” about its partnership with Pepsi last month. I promised to do it.
However, the unveiling never came. Neither DeLorean nor the soda giant responded to numerous requests for comment on the delay, nor would they comment on whether the brands plan to continue working together.
On October 21, DeLorean’s normally silent social media page on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) was activated with a teaser featuring the logos of both companies.
“Two iconic brands. A drop of timelessness. Stay tuned for December 2023,” he tweeted.

In early December, the current We reached out to both DeLorean and Pepsi for more information. Auto company officials did not respond, but Pepsi marketing chief Lexi Brown said in an emailed statement that “something is in the works.”
On December 31st, DeLorean teased the collaboration again.

However, as of now, neither company has announced anything about this partnership.
The missed December deadline is just the latest turmoil surrounding the startup, which is headquartered in San Antonio’s Techport.
In 2022, DeLorean faced a lawsuit from executives at California automaker Karma, alleging trademark infringement. That lawsuit was later dropped.
And last fall, some people who put deposits on DeLorean’s first vehicle, the Alpha 5, said: the current They said they were concerned about the company’s planned downsizing and lack of communication about the plan. A few weeks later, DeLorean CEO Joost de Vries quietly resigned.
