Africa’s Business Heroes (ABH) Awards Competition has launched its sixth annual continent-wide search for 10 outstanding entrepreneurs who strive to make a positive impact in their local communities.
Since its founding in 2019, ABH has spotlighted and supported Africa’s brightest entrepreneurial minds.
Top 10 ABH Finalists (Heroes) from the past 5 years:
- Created 123,000 direct and indirect jobs in Africa
- Serving more than 37.5 million customers in Africa and the rest of the world
- Raised over USD 153 million (excluding debt financing)
- Operating in 52 African countries
Now in its sixth year, ABH is calling on entrepreneurs from across Africa to step onto Africa’s biggest entrepreneurial stage.
ABH encourages applicants from all industries, ages, and genders in all 54 countries to submit applications in English or French.
In addition to valuable benefits such as training, exposure and networking opportunities, the top 10 finalists will compete for a share of a US$1.5 million grant.

To date, approximately 100,000 entrepreneurs have entered the ABH Prize competition. Last year’s winners were selected from her 27,267 applicants across sectors including agriculture, education and training, energy, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing and retail.
The competition culminated in a grand finale where the top 10 finalists took to Africa’s largest augmented reality stage to present their businesses in front of an esteemed panel of judges.
ABH is always looking for effective ways to help participating entrepreneurs take their businesses to the next level.
As in previous years, the journey to this year’s grand finale will also include access to a community of business leaders, innovators, industry experts, and investors, as well as access to interdisciplinary bootcamps and training sessions.
To better engage with entrepreneurs and expedite applications, ABH this year will conduct a series of We will hold a roadshow. , Tanzania and Zambia.
These events are carried out in partnership with local entrepreneurial organizations and members of the ABH community.

Applications for ABH Prize Competition 2024 are open from now until May 19, 2024. The top 50 finalists will be announced in July, followed by the top 10 in September. The final winner will be announced at the Grand Finale in November.
