Texas A&M McFerrin Center for Entrepreneurship will host a spring student marketplace event to showcase Aggie business owners.
On Saturday, Feb. 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 24 students from small business businesses selling a variety of products and services will be participating in the market at 1700 Research Parkway. Visitors can expect vendors selling products such as baked goods, candies, condiments, custom glassware, custom art, personalized nails, and even industrial-grade floor coatings.
For the first time, the marketplace will be held during Aggieland Saturday, A&M’s largest open house event. Free parking will be provided at this event. Alternatively, visitors can take his number 5 bus on the way to Bush School.
Recreation, Parks and Tourism senior Logan Russell is the founder of Runner’s High Cookies, which sells gourmet-style cookies and cookie cakes. Russell encourages other students to take a look at the Aggies’ creativity on the market, he said.
“People should participate in more than just shopping local,” Russell said. “This is to support students who are discovering problems in the region and trying to provide solutions with their products.”
Neharika Vajinapalli, a second-year supply chain management student and owner of Made2Polish, sells custom nail art. Vajnapalli said the Aggies should be in attendance, especially now that Valentine’s Day is right around the corner.
“I think everyone should participate. You’re definitely going to see a lot of different products and you’re always surprised by what people come up with,” Vajinapalli said. “With Valentine’s Day coming up, you’ll be able to give people a variety of gifts.”
Charlize Altedill, senior animal and poultry science and founder of The Lucky Girl Shop, offers a wide range of customizable products. Ms. Altedil, who will be attending the market for the first time, said she wanted to have a memorable experience.
“I hope that by participating in the marketplace, I will be able to really get my product out there and connect with people on a more personal level,” Altedil said.
Annabel Lee, a science and communications senior, is the owner of originalALs by Annabel Lee, where she sells her artwork. She said Lee had participated in the market many times in the past.
“How great is it to have such a diverse group of Aggie entrepreneurs and businesses coming together?” Lee said. “Being able to actually see everyone in person. Being in that environment and being in that environment with all the Aggies supporting each other, you can’t recreate that.”
Visitors can view a complete list of vendors at: McFarlin’s website.
