Much of the information in the released documents is already known, including the names of Epstein’s prominent friends and victims who have spoken publicly. Like many of the people who flew with Epstein, Kamen has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
The document alleges that one of Epstein’s victims, Virginia Giuffre, was against Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s ex-girlfriend, head of household, and chief recruiter of young and vulnerable women. It was part of a lawsuit filed. The lawsuit was settled in 2017, but the documents are now being made public. Maxwell, 62, was found guilty of sex trafficking following a trial two years ago and is serving a 20-year prison sentence.
Mr. Carmen is a famous New Hampshire entrepreneur who became famous for inventing the Segway, a self-balancing personal transportation device. His company DEKA focuses on medical innovation and his non-profit organization FIRST focuses on his STEM education for youth. He is also the executive director of the nonprofit organization ARMI. Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing aims to develop technology that will eventually grow human tissues and organs and has received $215 million in public funding.
Carmen also has a relationship with Nadia Marcinko (formerly Marcinkova), who was close to Epstein. She is accused of continuing to sexually abuse Epstein, and she is also said to be his victim. Marcinko did not respond to requests for comment on this story.
According to the New York Times, Ms. Marcinko, who is from Slovakia, was one of four women named as possible “coconspirators” in a 2008 relationship between Mr. Epstein and federal prosecutors in Florida. He was granted immunity in a plea bargain. Some victims accused her of participating in sexual assaults.
In 2013, Marcinko, a fashion model turned pilot, was interviewed by Kamen’s nonprofit FIRST for an article on “Girls in Tech.”
DEKA employees told New York Times and Washington Post aviation reporter Christine Negroni that they first met Marcinko at DEKA in 2014, when Carmen started the company’s flying club. He said that he announced that Marcinko would coach the team. According to the company’s website, DEKA still offers a flight club where employees can take flight lessons on company-owned aircraft. “The sky is your oyster, and at DEKA we encourage you to spread your wings,” the website says.
Marcinko filed to incorporate his business, Aviroop LLC, in New Hampshire in 2014 and registered it at DEKA’s 340 Commercial Street address in Manchester, according to a corporate filing with the New Hampshire Secretary of State. Aviroop is an aviation sales, marketing and consulting company, according to Marcinko’s filing.
She listed her residence as an address in Kidder Street, Manchester, owned by Maureen Toohey, a lawyer who previously served as DEKA’s general counsel and is now ARMI’s deputy executive director. Marcinko used this address on his New Hampshire filings until 2017.
Epstein committed suicide in a Manhattan jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges after being exposed as a pedophile. The disgraced investor was arrested in July 2019 and spent 36 days in jail before his death.
