Fisher appointed interim parks director
The City of Springfield and the Springfield-Greene County Park Commission jim fisher Fisher will become interim park director on January 28, following the retirement of Park Director Bob Belote. Mr. Fisher will serve in that position until a permanent park director is appointed.
Fisher has been with the Park Board since June 1, 2015, as Deputy Director of Administration, overseeing the Golf Department, Special Facilities, Business Operations, Park Rangers, Jordan Valley Park and Human Resources. He has been involved in public park management for nearly 40 years, with previous experience in other cities in Missouri, Illinois, and Kansas.
Fisher earned a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1981 and earned his Law Enforcement Board Certification from the Johnson County, Kansas Police Academy in 1983. Fisher and his wife Debbie have his four adult children and his one grandchild.
Mr. Baker and Mr. Craig join BBB Springfield Board of Directors
Better Business Bureau Springfield welcomes two new advisory board members effective January 1, 2024.

Springfield woman named one of Memorial Foundation’s 2024 Social Justice Fellows
The Memorial Foundation, builder of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the National Mall, announced its third Social Justice Fellows Program Cohort. abby ray hix Springfield will be one of 50 emerging leaders selected to participate in an eight-week virtual program focused on advocacy, community organizing, and public policy.

The Social Justice Fellows program has helped many develop their capacity to pursue Dr. King’s vision of equality, and we are excited to welcome our third class of students. ”
The Fellows program includes lectures, research, and projects focused on building movements around current events at the local, regional, or national level, and includes visits to Washington, DC. Mr. Battagler and Mr. Meadows appointed as shareholders of Carnahan Evans PC

Mr. Battagler previously served as a managing member of Anderek Evans LLC from 1999 to 2022 and is a member of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association, the Missouri State Bar Association, the Missouri National Defense Lawyers Organization, and the Electric Cooperative Lawyers Association (state liaison attorney). Nixa Chamber of Commerce welcomes new board members
The Nixa Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and Chamber President and CEO Whitney Gison announced new officers and directors this month.

Mr. Albers is a partner at Insight Design Architects and brings experience in small business ownership and economic development that will greatly benefit the Chamber. Chapman is his Sponsorship Coordinator for Nixa Public Schools, which has deep roots in the community. Mr. Albers and Mr. Chapman have dedicated significant time and resources volunteering in various capacities with the Chamber and have brought great success to the events our community enjoys each year.
