tampa, florida – On her 70th birthday, Linda Hampson chimed in on one of her favorite traditions: standing at the front of the shopping line to stop at the annual Chiseller’s Market.
“I get up at 5 o’clock, so I’m here at 6 o’clock,” Hampson laughed. “There should be one or two people at the door.”
She certainly wasn’t alone.
By 9 a.m., when the doors officially opened, hundreds of people were waiting outside every nook and cranny of Plant Hall, ready to grab the treasure they didn’t even know they needed.
“My husband always goes to the bargain section in the basement,” Hampson said. “He finds great things, but I go for crystal, ceramics, collectibles. You can’t beat that. I found beautiful antique samplers. I found beautiful pottery. I love anything old. .”

A historic building on the University of Tampa campus will be transformed into the region’s largest luxury resale event with up to 20,000 items on display.
These are accumulated throughout the year by the hard-working women who make up Chiselers, an organization that has been around for over 60 years.
“This event has been one of our major fundraisers for 59 years,” added President-elect Jane Hernandez.
All proceeds will help save this iconic landmark.
“Thank you to the Chiseller’s women, otherwise this beautiful building would not be here today,” Hampson said. “I truly believe they’re continuing to preserve it. They’re doing a good job and working hard.”
