Baker McKenzie and Allen & Overy have played a key role in advising on the establishment of Korea’s first open-ended core fund.
Baker McKenzie advised APG Asset Management, the investment manager of the largest pension provider in the Netherlands, on its investment in the ESR Group’s core funds worth over $400 million.
Partner Jason Ng, who led Baker McKenzie’s team, said: “This core fund marks a new evolution in the relationship between APG, CPP Investments and ESR Kendall Square (ESRKS), and we are very pleased to be a part of it. Baker McKenzie’s team included special prosecutor Haley Irons and her colleagues Lillian Wong and Meng-Shang Zhang. Mr. Irons and Mr. Chan are also foreign law attorneys. Allen & Overy advised ESR Group, Asia Pacific’s largest real estate management company, led by Singaporean partner Shuhui Kwok.

The Core Fund is a joint venture between APG, CPP Investments and ESRKS, a subsidiary of ESR Group, and aims to acquire high quality income producing assets in South Korea.
