FORT MITCHELL, Kentucky — In 2023, the BE NKY Growth Partnership helped 12 Northern Kentucky businesses expand by providing location expertise to attract four new businesses to the region.
Over the past year, the BE NKY team secured 1,419 new job announcements and more than $383 million in capital investment in Northern Kentucky.
The advanced manufacturing sector is a high-growth industry in the region, accounting for 69% of successful projects and 56% of announced jobs.
“Despite the many economic uncertainties in 2023, BE NKY has had a successful year, bringing more than 1,000 new jobs to the region and exceeding our capital investment goals by nearly $100 million.” said James Dressman, Chairman of the NKY Board of Directors. “Northern Kentucky continues to be a highly desirable location for businesses, and we are confident we will see even more success in 2024.”

Launching a new name and new brand
In March 2023, BE NKY launched a new name and branding, transitioning from “Northern Kentucky Tri-ED.” Our new name more accurately represents the work we do and the essence of our region: growth and partnership.
We officially unveiled our new brand at the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce’s Eggs ‘N Issues breakfast, attended by 150 local elected and business leaders. BE NKY team members have participated in many speaking opportunities to introduce and promote the new brand.
Build and improve campaign initiatives
BE NKY also continued to work on initiatives outlined in the 2022 Build + Elevate Northern Kentucky Investor Campaign.
Business Growth Manager Jacob Edmonds has organized business attraction efforts for 20 campaigns in 2023 and three international conferences attended by members of the economic development team.
Our first LinkedIn digital marketing campaign impressed approximately 160,000 people and generated multiple leads at the Paris Air Show.
BE NKY’s managing entity, the Revitalized Northern Kentucky Port Authority, is working on two projects that include the OneNKY Center. Owned by NKY Ports, this 43,000 square foot Class A office building will house a number of Northern Kentucky growth organizations, including Covington Life Sciences Labs and BE NKY.
OneNKY Center will break ground in August 2023 with an expected completion date of mid-2025.
Kentucky product development efforts
BE NKY and Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) have submitted a project to the first round of improved Kentucky Product Development Initiative (KPDI) funding. CVG is the fastest growing and sixth largest cargo airport in North America.
KPDI funds will provide $3.6 million for the North Cargo project, which includes support from Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties. The Boone County Fiscal Court, on behalf of the Kenton County Airport Commission, will provide funding for a portion of CVG’s construction of an air cargo storage facility with airside access. The total expected investment in this project is more than $14.7 million.
