Gary Smith, CEO of global sustainable packaging company BioPak, has been named EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2024 Australia. The announcement was made at an awards ceremony in Sydney, New South Wales on March 20th.
Selected from a pool of 16 finalists for his purpose-driven entrepreneurial spirit, Gary is a pioneer in the sustainable packaging industry movement, driving positive change through his unwavering dedication, innovative spirit, and BioPak. The company was recognized for its efforts to do so.
“I’m really proud and humbled to have won this award,” Gary says.

Gary was also named the winner in the industry category along with three other Australian entrepreneurs.

Since 2001, the EY Entrepreneur of the Year program has recognized ambitious leaders who build and sustain successful, dynamic businesses that leave a lasting positive impact on the communities in which they operate. In Australia, he joins over 1,700 entrepreneurs in the Entrepreneur Of The Year alumni community.
Gary will travel to Monaco in June to compete against national winners from over 60 countries for the chance to be named 2024 EY Global Entrepreneur of the Year.
