ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Shop Upper Madison Week will ring in the new year from December 31st to January 6th. As nearby St. Rhodes College prepares to close, Upper Madison Group is encouraging shoppers to visit Madison Avenue in Pine Hills. Spring and Summer 2024 1 class.

It’s been a week since the announcement of St. Rose’s closure. Since then, Councilman Owusu Anane and Farrell have met with the community to get ideas on what to do with the campus.
“There are some small businesses that have been struggling a lot since COVID-19. Now with the closure of the University of Saint Rose, there are some businesses that are in a bit of a crisis, especially in terms of revenue,” Anane said. said.
The Pine Hills Neighborhood Association believes this is the first step towards consistent business. Companies like Motor Oil Coffee are concerned about the decline in the student body, but argue there is still a community to serve.
“It’s great that people want to be here. It’s crowded because it’s a holiday, the day before a long weekend, so I’m happy,” said Jermaine Carter, owner of Motor Oil Coffee. Ta.
While this week-long effort does not include sales or in-store sales, the goal is to promote and highlight small businesses in the area. As 2023 draws to a close, the Pine Hills neighborhood remains positive about what lies ahead.
“Listen, we don’t have any special deals, but if you’re in the Pine Hills area, you’re bound to see us,” Anane said.
“Everything is a deal in Pine Hills!” exclaimed Farrell. “Every day is a deal. Come on, come on,” Anane added.
