What made you decide to buy and resell sneakers?

For the past few years, Nike, along with many other retailers, have preached this idea of fairness in the distribution of sneakers and related products. As many customers have seen, the market is dominated by resellers who simply buy sneakers at retail stores and resell them for a profit, with limited supply for regular customers and collectors. This effort to ensure equity doesn’t seem to be working, as there are either very few or none at all. People buy to wear and admire.
To me, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to make a little extra money here and there. I bought the sneakers to enjoy wearing them most of the time, and even though I cleaned them frequently, I found they still held most of their value. However, when it comes to mass reselling, problems arise because most products have fewer individual customers. When I was in high school, I remember waking up at 10 a.m. on a Saturday morning to apply for first-come, first-served sneaker drops on the Nike SNKRS app, and almost missing out. The same people winning over and over again makes me wonder how and what we can do to make this industry more fair. My goal was to level the playing field and give sneakerheads like me the opportunity to buy our favorite shoes without paying the hefty price tag.
What prevents you from buying popular sneakers when their prices drop?
The major issues impacting consumer access are: sneaker bot: Coding software and applications designed to allow individuals to purchase while supplies last. When the sneakers drop, the bot is pre-programmed to check out almost instantly, enter your card information, and secure your pair. As a result, sneakers sell out within seconds or minutes of being released. As a result, there is almost no room for regular customers to interact with it, and the chances are close to zero.
You have started an entrepreneurial business reselling sneakers to increase consumer access. How did this evolve into starting a marketing business serving individuals in the sneaker niche?
I have noticed a change in the sneaker community. From collecting and wearing sneakers to buying sneakers just to resell them at a higher price. To address this, I created a sneaker-focused Instagram account to offer growth services to those looking to build a sneaker or streetwear business on Instagram. My goal is to connect individuals interested in sneakers with small businesses in the same niche with a true passion for sneakers.
We also organized a campaign sponsored by these small businesses, where participants had a chance to win popular sneakers. This created an incentive for individuals to follow and engage with these accounts, but it also fostered a community where businesses passionate about sneakers and streetwear could unite around his one cause. Networking is invaluable in the sneaker community. I was able to create a platform that bridges the gap between sneaker enthusiasts and legitimate businesses while creating an opportunity for individuals to acquire their coveted sneakers.
