Brunei’s Prince Abdul Mateen, one of Asia’s most popular royal figures, married his longtime girlfriend and fiancée Anisha Rozna in an elaborate 10-day ceremony.
The 32-year-old Crown Prince, who is sixth in line to the throne of Brunei, married the granddaughter of Special Advisor to Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in an Islamic ceremony held inside a folding dome mosque in the capital Bandar Seri Begawan.
The 10-day celebrations, which began on January 7, will conclude on Sunday, with the family hosting the main wedding reception at the 1,788-room palace.
Prince Mateen, a pilot and polo player, is the fourth son and 10th child of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, one of the world’s richest men. The Sultan announced Mateen and Anisha’s engagement in October. Anisha reportedly runs a fashion brand and a tourism business.
He currently serves as a helicopter pilot in the Brunei Air Force and holds the rank of major, and has been compared to Britain’s Prince Harry in the past. In fact, he has met many members of the British royal family himself, and often accompanies his father, King Hassanal Bolkiah, on state visits such as the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
An avid polo player, Mateen also represented Brunei at the 2017 and 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
According to local media, his wife Rozna has carved out her own path as a successful entrepreneur in Brunei. In addition to leading her fashion brand Silk She Collective, she co-owns a tourism company called Authenticary with her close friends.

According to local media reports, Mateen and Rozna both share a passion for fitness and enjoy an active lifestyle. Rozna is known to be quite the food enthusiast, and she runs a page on Instagram where she offers cooking advice to her followers.
After a reception on Sunday, the royal couple will depart for a procession in the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan.
The Royal Family of Brunei is a monarchy that rules Brunei, a small sovereign state located on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. The family is one of the richest and most influential families in the world, largely due to the country’s rich oil and natural gas reserves and the Sultan’s net worth reaching £24 billion.
