houston – There’s no question that Candace Nelson is the queen of cupcakes. Sprinkles Cupcakes, the company she co-founded with her husband, has sold over 200 million of her cupcakes worldwide. Baking is her passion, but it wasn’t her original career path.
After working in an investment bank and then taking a job at an internet startup 20 years ago, Nelson completely pivoted to pursue his passion: baking. She never thought of herself as an entrepreneur, but her husband Charles inspired her to follow her heart. After she attended pastry school, Sprinkles was born.
“I feel really lucky to have had the career I’ve had because everyone told me my idea would never come true,” said Sprinkle, which currently has more than 20 stores and 30 cupcake ATMs. said Nelson of Z Cupcakes.
She didn’t stop at just cupcakes. Nelson has written several books, appeared on countless TV shows, including the Netflix hit Sugar Rush (she also served as an executive producer on the show), and she is no longer one of the Founded two successful chains, Pisana. Now open in Houston. Nelson partnered with Neapolitan-born chef and television personality Daniele Wooditi to create her unique interpretation of classic Neapolitan pizzas and appetizers. Of course, delicious desserts are also on the menu.
She strongly believes in supporting other entrepreneurs and supports startups with a focus on women and other underrepresented groups.
Unable to let negative thoughts get in the way, Nelson says: He remained true to my ideas. I listened to my gut and persevered. ”
I’m glad she did that.
