Vancouver, British Columbia – The Vancouver Canucks and the Canucks for Kids Foundation announced today that proceeds from Saturday, March 23rd’s 50/50 jackpot will support the ALS Super Fund to continue the fight to end ALS.
The National Hockey League community has seen firsthand the devastating effects of ALS and the need for more research to find a cure. All seven Canadian teams have come together in the fight to end this terrible disease through the ALS Super Fund, which was started by former NHL player Mark Carton, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2018.
“I have known Mark for a long time and truly value our friendship,” said Jim Rutherford, President of Hockey Operations. “I’m so proud of him and the work he’s doing. Despite having ALS, Mark has remained strong, positive and moved forward. Personally, he has always We have strived to put people in a position to defeat this terrible disease. Working together is the cure. It’s the quickest way to find out, and the average life expectancy for ALS is two to five years, so time is of the essence.”
The ALS Super Fund enables Canadians to join a community of Canadians around the world actively working to end ALS. Super Fund is led by patients, guided by experts, and efforts are implemented by organizations best placed to produce rapid results. The Fund aims to work together to ensure fair access to treatments and trials for all Canadians as we all rush to end ALS. The Canucks will continue their efforts in the fight against this disease and contribute to finding a cure in any way they can. We are all on the same team when it comes to the fight against ALS.

Attendees can purchase one of the following ticket packages:
- $100 for 500 tickets
- $50 for 200 tickets
- $25 for 50 tickets
- 5 tickets for $10
- 1 ticket for $5
Online sales will begin at 12:00 noon on game day and will be available for purchase at canucks.com/5050 until the end of the second intermission on Saturday, March 23rd. The prize is 50% of the final jackpot total. Winning ticket numbers will be posted online at canucks.com/5050 immediately following the drawing.
