Little Rock, AR – Anne AT&T outage Credit card systems went down on Saturday, impacting customers and small businesses across central Arkansas.
AT&T provides internet and Wi-Fi services to more than 225,000 customers in Arkansas as of 2022, according to AT&T Connects.
Power outages were reported in the Heights neighborhood of Little Rock earlier in the day. Those outages have now been restored, but they affected businesses like Steamroller Blues in the Heights.
“I think it was around 2 p.m. today, during the peak of Saturday’s busy season, when everyone was leaving Heights Tacos to shop, and the internet went out,” said the manager of Steamroller Blues in the Heights. , Caitlin Elkins said. “On particularly busy days, you may not be able to call someone to come to work, which can disrupt business.”
Elkins said his company was able to avoid problems, but other companies weren’t so lucky.
“Fortunately, we have a website, so you can go to the website and add products. So what we were basically doing was creating our own products from our mobile phones. It was about shopping on the website,” Elkins said. “If you’re a business like a restaurant, it’s very difficult to run a website.”
Elkins also said he has lost a lot of business from people who don’t have cash or other forms of mobile banking apps.
“If my card doesn’t work, I don’t usually carry cash so I usually have to use Venmo if I can, but if not I think I’ll have to leave the house,” says one customer. Olivia Riley said.
Elkins said it’s becoming less common to see cash in transactions.
