In its continued mission to support local initiatives, the Chelsea Community Foundation (CCF) has revealed the latest recipients of its grant program, marking another notable contribution to the well-being of the community . This year, four Chelsea-based nonprofit organizations will receive grants totaling $63,500.
Among the grant recipients, Barn Sanctuary was awarded $17,000 to facilitate the purchase of a mobility rideabout golf cart. This investment aims to make farms more accessible and enable people with mobility challenges to participate in community-based activities, thereby promoting a more inclusive environment for all members of the community. The Chelsea Area Pickleball Association was awarded a $25,000 grant to help strengthen its recreational infrastructure. The funds will be used to build six new permanent outdoor pickleball courts at Timbertown Park, marking the first phase of the broader Reimagine Timbertown initiative. The Chelsea Area Historical Society (CAHS) was another grant recipient, receiving $11,500 to help preserve the museum building and install mechanical safety devices. As CAHS celebrates his 50th anniversary in 2024, these funds will help ensure the museum’s survival for future centennial celebrations.
The St. Louis Center has been allocated a $10,000 grant to partially fund monthly events highlighting cultural diversity. These events are designed to enrich the Chelsea community by providing members, residents, and staff with an opportunity to explore and appreciate the cultural mosaic expressed within our community.
In an administrative change, CCF announced a transition from the previous biennial format to an annual grant cycle. The next deadline for grant applications is set for February 15, 2025.
