Every year, the volunteer organizers of the News Sentinel Charities Empty Stocking Fund have to make big decisions. That’s how many East Tennessee families in need we can serve this year.
Of course, our goal is to help as many people as possible by financially properly managing the donations we receive.
That’s why gifts like the recent $10,000 donation from the Clayton Family Foundation help us get on solid footing in the new year. While distributing meal boxes to families around Christmas, we received so many reader gifts that we will continue to provide regular updates as we decide how to best serve our community members in 2024. The Creighton family’s generosity over the decades has created many opportunities for families to gather around the table during the holidays.
