Bellwright, an open-world survival game set in a medieval kingdom ruled by a brutal ruler, will launch on Steam Early Access in the early months of 2024, offering players a chance to claim the throne and create a game for everyone. I challenge you to build a better kingdom. Bellwright offers co-op support and features town building, intense combat, an extensive villager recruitment system, wrongly accused murders, and more.
Uncover the truth and clear your name
Many open-world survival games are built around you and your friends discovering secrets. With the help of Bell Light, the developer aims to further spotlight the story of a man who is accused of the accidental death of a prince and sentenced to death. Forced to live a secret life, you must protect yourself from hidden attacks from unexpected places.
Were you unlucky to become a suspect, or is there more to the story? To clear his name and uncover the truth, become Bellite and lead a rebellion against the oppressive monarch of his homeland, delve into his family’s true history, and unravel the dark mystery surrounding the prince’s murder. Must be.
Survive, build and prepare for war
Leading a rebellion isn’t easy, but it can certainly be fun if you prove yourself worthy of being a leader. The world of early medieval Berrite is harsh, but not impossible to live in. Learn to survive and build a home for yourself and those deeply loyal to you.
To do so, you’ll need to gather resources, hunt, build, and craft to cultivate a thriving settlement that can withstand not only the king and his royal army, but also bandits, nature, and more. But don’t worry, you don’t have to do this alone. Bellrite is committed to liberating and liberating the oppressed and recruiting them to your cause. But people don’t just run to your side. To prove yourself to others, you must build enough fame by constructing buildings, completing quests, and defeating enemies.
When you recruit villagers, each villager has their own unique abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, and you can give them tasks such as constructing buildings or gathering food and other resources. They can also be placed in military squads. Want to create a cadre of archers who will keep you safe from afar? Go ahead, you’ll be fine. Do you want a group of shield-bearers who can pave the way for you to take control of the heart of the enemy’s camp? You can do that too.
Finally, each villager can have an occupation such as worker, soldier, or guard. Get to know your villagers better and identify jobs that may be in short supply to make the most of their skills in your town. Assemble the perfect team, protect your home, and go out to defeat the Clown.
Recruit or conquer people around you to become more powerful
However, don’t be satisfied with just reconciling. Not enough to clear the name and help the kingdom. During your journey, you will have to deal with threats big and small in different regions and make them your own. These victories allow you to earn “rebellion points” and new resources, allowing you to learn advanced technologies to grow your home and strengthen your army.
Some of these outposts and towns will continue to function after you conquer and liberate them from the King, but you will be responsible for them. You’ll need to build, manage, and upgrade these outposts and towns with your recruits, ensuring they’re rich in resources and ready to go when you’re called into battle.
Bandit camps are scattered across the map and pose a major threat if ignored. These camps can be easy, medium, or hard, and each has a threat radius that can be seen on the map. This red area is an area where bandits can attack villagers gathering resources, attack settlements, and protect valuable resource nodes. So if you want to build something in one of these areas or put an outpost nearby, be sure to clear out your camp first.
However, be careful as capturing a camp will increase the bandit’s anger and increase the raid threat meter. Once the meter is full, bandits will launch an onslaught on your settlement, killing villagers, stealing resources, and damaging buildings if your defenses are not up to par.
Lead your army to victory alone or with friends
If you’re confident in your army or ready to risk it all for ultimate glory, you can leave the comfort of your home and take to the battlefield to ensure victory for the ages. Combat in Bell Light is described as directional combat, meaning you can choose where your attacks hit the enemy. With a sword and shield (or other weapons like an ax or bow!) in hand, you can charge headlong into battle, feeling the weight of each swing and protecting yourself from all attacks.
You can take a squad of villagers with you, so you don’t have to fight alone. Command your squad to join the fray, lead the way with charges, move to specific locations, and attack groups of enemies as you, the powerful leader, defeat enemies left and right. You can also. Focus on something else.
Bellwright can be played completely solo, or you can bring a few friends with you. Let’s build and fight together. Because, as they always say, it’s more fun with friends.
Bellwright will be coming to Steam Early Access soon and will be continually updated as we get closer to launch. For more information, wishlist Bellwright on Steam or check out Bellwright’s Discord.
