Contests to help entrepreneurs start or expand their businesses

To foster entrepreneurship and support small businesses, Beaufort County Community College’s Small Business Center (SBC) is preparing to host a Seed Startup Competition. This initiative provides a platform for current and aspiring small business owners in Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrell and Washington counties to compete for startup funding.
The highlight of the competition is the “Pitch Contest” scheduled for April 13th at BCCC. There, qualified entrepreneurs compete for cash prizes to fuel their small business startup or expansion ideas. To be eligible for the pitch competition, participants must complete a comprehensive small business learning and planning process. This includes attending all 5 of his free SBC Core workshops, attending 5 of his 1-hour counseling sessions with BCCC SBC Director Jack Dugan, and creating a formal business plan. This includes registering your business with the North Carolina Secretary of State.
“We want to ensure that participants not only have a chance to win startup funding, but also undergo a thorough learning and planning process to strengthen their business foundations.”Dugan he emphasized.
The contest will award 10 winners $2,500 to support their entrepreneurial endeavors. The partnership includes Beaufort County Community College, Duke Energy, National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE), First Citizens Bank, NC Ideas, Tri-County Foundation, Airbnb, First Bank, Belhaven Pantego Rotary Club, and the BCCC Foundation. , highlighting collaborative efforts to empower local entrepreneurs.
