Inspired by her kind feelings about a close friend’s birth announcement, Mimantha launched StudioEM, a venture that designs custom and haute couture wedding invitations. “In recent years, there has been a noticeable shift towards electronic invitations. Our business is committed to providing electronic invitations ( e-invitations) instead of traditional paper invitations,” says Mimantha, Founder and CEO of StudioEM.
But this wasn’t her first time. She launched her social media agency Brand Network during the pandemic. An alumnus of Singapore’s Basant Her Valley School and Raffles Design Her Institute, she believes in consistency and giving back to the community over competition.
StudioEM is a self-founded model, so it has been built and grown by Mimansa with the heartfelt support of her mother. “My mother’s unwavering faith and belief in my adventure gave me all the encouragement I needed to keep going,” she says. But being a female entrepreneur also comes with its own challenges, she said. And one of them is gender bias. “I have persistently worked on this issue by letting my work speak for itself. I still face stereotypes from some customers, but I want to break them by doing good work.” I am a self-taught designer who has proven that patience and hard work are two keys to success. ” Remarkably, she earned not one, but three coveted nominations from Wedding Sutra.

Mimansa had to face another challenge during the second wave of the pandemic, as many of its social media clients were unable to maintain their contracts due to financial constraints that affected the company’s revenue streams . However, despite this setback, Mimantha remained resilient and focused on regaining her footing, emerging stronger than before. “One of the high points of our journey has been working closely with celebrities like Salman Khan, Arpita Khan and other famous HNIs and high-profile clients,” she says. She has an artistic vision of understanding the individual aesthetics of her clients. Her Pichwa-themed invitations stand out as signature pieces featuring her minimalist and elegant design aesthetic.
On issues such as plagiarism, Mimantha believes there is an urgent need to strengthen copyright laws to effectively protect intellectual property rights in this emerging market.
Next, we want to delve into the packaging industry to meet the growing demand for personalized packaging solutions in the wedding and event sector. Capitalizing on the success of her notecards, she will soon be launching personalized stationery as well.
“Women are, in many ways, the face of the present and the future. If women stand up and take a chance, there are no limits to what they can achieve,” Mimantha concludes.
