Data Insights – Start our world in data

Today, we’re launching Data Insights, a bite-sized format that highlights one of our 4,000+ charts and highlights one important detail about how the world is changing. .

The structure of data validation is simple.

• A title that includes a key message
• Diagram
• Short text that explains the main point
• Links to explore the data and read more
• Links to related content.

Data insights focus on a single metric and make comparisons over time and across countries to highlight what’s important about the world.

Here are the first four data insights we’re publishing today:

Following on from the homepage redesign we published last week, we’ve also added a link strip to our latest data insights. Our homepage looks like this:

Our World in Data publishes a wide range of data covering over 100 topics. Up until now, we’ve used a longer format to help users understand the data and what it can tell us about the world in more detail.

But many important insights about the world are best expressed succinctly.

From our experience of communicating our work on social media, X/Twitter We know that clear graphs and takeaways are one of the most successful ways to share our work.

This is where data insights come into play. We have posted these more concise and easy-to-understand key points on our website.
