Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore has given his thoughts on trading quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Ian Rapoport NFL Network reporters announced the shocking news on Saturday, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting on the compensation:
Moore has repeatedly made it clear to reporters that he wants Fields back, even though the Bears hold the No. 1 overall pick and are in a prime position to acquire a blue-chip player. definitely Caleb Williams of the University of Southern California;
But all the offseason smoke points to the Bears taking the next step after three seasons, with Fields now a Steeler and backup to Russell Wilson for the duration of the 2024 campaign, Schefter and ESPN reported. Ta. brooke pryor.
It’s understandable why Moore would want Fields back. Simply put, the two had a great relationship.
In the 13 games Fields started last year, Moore caught 76 passes for 1,153 yards and eight touchdowns. That included an explosive game against the Washington Commanders on 8/230/3.
In the four games Fields sat with a dislocated right thumb, Moore caught just 20 passes for 211 yards and no scores.
It’s easy to see why Moore would want stability with Fields after years of inconsistent quarterback play with the Carolina Panthers. It also helps that he has transformed into a bona fide superstar.
Unfortunately, as Moore said, “business is business” and the Bears moved on. They can (possibly) reset his rookie time with Williams and enjoy much more financial flexibility for four years, while Fields will have his big day soon as his rookie contract expires in 2024. (unless the Steelers pick up his $25 million fifth-year option in 2025).
