The Downtown Lynchburg Association (DLA) announced the return of Launch LYH in 2024.
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Downtown Lynchburg Association (DLA) has announced the return of Launch LYH in 2024.
Launch LYH is a program dedicated to revitalizing downtown Lynchburg by supporting up-and-coming entrepreneurs who are preparing to start, relocate, or expand their businesses. This year, the program will award his $90,000 grant, which will be distributed to recipients. Funds can be used for rent, additions, inventory, and other start-up costs.
Selected applicants will participate in a business development course taught by the Lynchburg Area Small Business Development Center one day a week for eight weeks. The course will all lead to a pitch night, where participants will submit their business plans to a panel of judges who will decide how much of the $90,000 to share with the winner.
Companies are judged based on their overall score, needs, and growth plans.
Last year’s Launch LYH cohort brought two new businesses to Downtown Lynchburg, including PREAM and Mosaic Collective + Threaded. The cohort also supported his three new businesses, scheduled to open in 2024.
Applications are open on the Downtown Lynchburg Association website and close on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 11:30 p.m. Applicants will be notified of potential acceptance by Friday, February 23, 2024.
