A Goldendoodle named Cecil from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is making headlines after digging up a $4,000 envelope his owner had set aside for a contractor to install a fence in his yard.
On December 8, just 30 minutes after Cecil’s owner, Clayton Roe, put the envelope aside, the 7-year-old dog managed to nibble on a $100 bill and a $50 bill, much to his owners’ surprise.

The couple joked that the dog must be “interested in money” and admitted it had “never done anything bad before.” Still, the pet’s concerned parents called Cecil’s veterinarian to make sure he was OK after eating the paper.
“We were told that as long as he was eating, drinking and going to the bathroom, he would be fine considering he was 100 pounds,” Clayton Law told the outlet. “If he had been a small dog, it would have been a different story.”
Laws was able to piece together $1,500 from the torn bills on the floor, and the bank said they would take the bills back as long as they could see the serial numbers.

Over the next few days, Cecil vomits and defecates on the banknote pieces while Rose collects and washes the banknotes in an attempt to get the money back.
Carrie’s Instagram post telling Cecil’s story received more than 193,300 likes on the social media platform.
“When I was a kid, I thought this was money laundering,” one person joked.
“It’s the puzzle no one wanted to complete this Christmas,” said another.
In total, the Laws were able to recover $3,550 of their original $4,000 from their beloved companion. This means that Cecil is now a little fuller and about $450 richer.
