The Arizona Daily Star Sportsman Fund raises money to help children from low-income and military families attend summer camp at little or no cost to their families.
Since 1947, the Sportsman’s Fund has helped 44,007 children pay for their trips to camp. We are one of the oldest 501(c )(3) charities in Arizona and one of the most efficient, with 97 cents of every dollar going to send kids to camp. .
We send local children to week-long overnight camps at the YMCA, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts, as well as an overnight camp at Camp Tatiee for school-aged children with special needs. I am. Our goal is to raise $225,000 to send over 500 children to camp. To date, we have received 284 donations totaling $36,877.
Almost all of these donations were in response to envelopes placed in the Star last month. More donations will be announced next week.
