Box to Box Films is a production company of Netflix. Formula 1: Drive for survivalhas a minority investment from Bruin Capital, a global sports, media and technology focused investment firm.
Financial and other details were not disclosed, but Box to Box said Tuesday that the capital injection represents a “substantial” minority investment.
Founded in 2016 by Academy Award-winning producer James Gay Rees and Emmy Award-winning producer Paul Martin, Box to Box also produces sports productions, including F1 documentaries. SennaSoccer Doctor Diego Maradona and the Netflix tennis series breakpointas well as the Amy Winehouse doc amyamong others.
“With this new investment from Bruin, the company will expand into new areas (i.e. digital, branding, scripted) as well as self-funded projects, while also exploring strategic M&A.” Box to Box said.
The company will continue to be led by Gay Rees, Martin and managing director Samantha Lawrence, but will look to expand its senior management team in Los Angeles and London.

Bruin’s advisors on the transaction included Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett for legal advice and Morris & Company for financial advice. Box to Box worked with Mr. Houlihan Lokey as its treasurer, Mr. CMS as its legal director, and Mr. Grant Thornton as its accounting and tax advisor.
