Chennai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday asked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin to explain his links with a former DMK functionary who was arrested as part of an international drug lord. The party claimed that MK Stalin’s daughter-in-law directed the film produced by the accused.

In a sharp attack, the BJP said MK Stalin’s party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has now become a “drug marketing Kazhagam”.

On Saturday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Jafar Sadiq (36), an expelled DMK worker, in Tamil Nadu.he is accused of having ties to INR20 billion drug trade.

BJP Mahila Morcha leader Vanati Srinivasan targeted Stalin and claimed that ML Stalin’s daughter-in-law directed a film produced by Jaffer Sadiq. She also claimed that the accused was close to Udhayanidhi Stalin.

The NCB is investigating the suspect’s ties with people from the Tamil and Hindi film industries.

BJP leader Tom Badakkan said Stalin had turned the DMK government into what he called a drug marketing Kazhagam.

“Stalin and his cronies have reduced the DMK government (in Tamil Nadu) to a drug-selling Kazhagam,” he said.

Tom Wadakkan also held gun training in the rebel Indian bloc and asked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi whether drug trafficking was acceptable.

“Is this the kind of alignment you are trying to introduce in Tamil Nadu?” he further asked Gandhi.

Sadiq was arrested in Delhi based on a specific tip-off. The Drug Enforcement Agency alleged that he was the “mastermind and central figure” of a cross-border pseudoephedrine smuggling racket spanning Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Law Minister and DMK leader S. Regpathy on Sunday said the party has no connection with Jaffer Sadiq. He said the Bharatiya Janata Party government had already “misused” the Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax Department and Central Bureau of Investigation for the purpose of “tainting” the DMK government. He claimed to have sent.

“Today they (Centre) are thinking of blackmailing the DMK through the NCB,” he added.
