SOUTH CAROLINA (WSPA) – The South Carolina Department of Education is encouraging families to submit applications for the Educational Scholarship Trust Fund by Friday, March 15, 2024.
This is a program that awards South Carolina students between $5,000 and $6,000. Funds will go toward tuition, school supplies, tutoring, disability services, and more.
Abundant Life Christian School educators are already approved. They said the funding will help meet the educational needs of students.
“I’ve known so many families over the years that they can’t afford it, or they can’t afford something like that, so having this option is a good thing for them. It wasn’t a choice. This will open the door to a lot of families who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford it,” said April Coleman, principal.
Officials said any student who wishes to transfer is eligible.It is a kindergarten student up to the age of 12.th School year. Current public school students who do not plan to remain in their home public school district next year are also eligible to receive funds to cover transfer costs.
The bottom line is that your household income must be less than 200% of the federal poverty line, which is about $60,000 for a family of four.

Learning centers like Abundant Life Christian School say they’re glad they decided to apply.
“We have the talent that we have, so we’re able to admit more students and give them those opportunities,” Coleman said.
Families can still apply.
“We encourage everyone who wishes to participate to apply now, whether or not they know exactly whether they are eligible.
