Parades are no stranger to the El Segundo Little League All-Stars.
After all, winning the Little League World Series deserves all the praise it deserves, and they did it in dramatic fashion.
They have held parades in their home town on New Year’s Day and even had their own Rose Parade float, but this all started in August during the championship game against Curacao, when Louis Rappe was the finalist in the sixth inning. It was to celebrate the title he won by hitting a home run. 27.
The team joined hundreds of other youth baseball players in another parade on Saturday, Feb. 24, at Little League’s new season opener. El Segundo Little League, founded in 1954, also unveiled a plaque and sign commemorating the league. World Series title.
Little Leaguers from around the region were excited to meet World Series hero Lewis and his teammates during a thrilling roller coaster ride to the national title.
Danny Bohle, the manager of the 2023 championship team, was also in attendance and threw out the ceremonial first pitch of the season.
About 450 children, ages 3 to 11, wore uniforms and marched down Main Street Saturday morning, ending at George Brett Field.
After the opening ceremony, the children played ball and the new season officially began. And perhaps the start of a new championship season.
