As we enter the new year, volunteers at the News Sentinel Charities Empty Stocking Fund are looking back on 2023 with gratitude.
Thanks to your generous financial support, the loyal dedication of our corporate sponsors, and volunteer time, we were able to purchase, assemble, and deliver 3,000 healthy food boxes to East Tennesseans in need. It’s done. We know this is a very collective achievement and one that will brighten the holidays of thousands of people.
Looking ahead to the 2024 holiday season, we want to serve even more families, and that means starting to set goals now. Our fundraisers occur throughout the year, and we ask those who didn’t have the opportunity to donate during the holidays to consider making a gift at the beginning of the new year.

Empty Stocking Fund has no overhead, no paid employees, and no extraneous expenses, so every penny goes toward its efforts. We are 100% volunteer-run by caring community members who are determined to serve families every Christmas.
As inflation stabilizes and the economy brightens, we are now working to lay the foundations to support more families. We’re proud to be the bridge between those who have funded this effort for more than a century and those who count on us every year.
