Because of his commitment to innovation and lifelong learning, and his passion for sharing knowledge and expertise, Dr. Neo is one of the recent recipients of SkillsFuture Fellowships.
Sponsored by the President of the Republic of Singapore, the SkillsFuture Fellowships recognize individuals who have demonstrated proven skills and made significant contributions to developing the workforce of the future.
SkillsFuture Fellowships recipients will receive S$10,000 which they can use to further develop their skills and abilities. Dr. Neo hopes to use this funding to deepen his knowledge of strategic forecasting and sustainability in the green economy.
“These areas will be critical as we navigate the evolving landscape of technological innovation and its impact on the environment,” he said.
Dr Neo believes that the development of Singapore’s knowledge-based economy depends on continuous innovation. “Governments are making significant investments in science and technology, and these investments must ultimately create added value through commercialization and the introduction of new technologies. To achieve this, we need to engage the next generation of innovators. It needs to be nurtured.”
Dr. Neo finds fulfillment in witnessing the professional and personal growth of those mentored through the ASPIRE initiative and YELP. He takes the time to understand each individual’s aspirations, strengths, and weaknesses so that they can chart a clear path in their career.
Dr. Neo also shares his advice for mentees, drawn from his extensive experience in entrepreneurship and innovation: “The world is constantly evolving, and today’s cutting-edge technology will be obsolete tomorrow. But when one door closes, another opens as long as we continue to learn and grow.”
Applications for the SkillsFuture Fellowship are open until March 20, 2024.
