The co-founder of Canada-based canned seafood brand Scout is leaving the company to start a new consumer food brand agency.
Scout co-founder Charlotte Langley will now lead Langley Foods, an incubator that provides business growth support to emerging Canadian brands.
Langley conceived the Scout concept in 2014 and ran the company as a sole proprietorship for four years before commercializing it in 2020.
The brand has since been sold at major retailer Whole Foods and is a favorite of influencers who promote “tin fish date nights” on Instagram and TikTok.
Langley has long been interested in how consumers interact with the consumer packaged goods (CPG) and foodservice categories, he said in a press release about his move.
She said she is eager to apply her knowledge and insight in the CPG space to the North American market.

Raised on Prince Edward Island in Atlantic Canada, this seafood entrepreneur already has an established food industry career in Canada and North America.
She has worked as a chef at some of the country’s top restaurants, as a buyer, broker and culinary director for reputable organizations, and is a Canadian chef ambassador for the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), a sustainable seafood certification organization. .
