Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology Development Find courses exploring entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship opportunities for students. EpICMavs We offer weekly guest speakers and discussion sessions.
The EpICMavs weekly speaker series will be held again on Thursdays at 4:30 pm in the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology Development.
According to UTA’s website, CETD is a vibrant collaboration where students, scholars, and researchers innovate, commercialize new technologies, and pioneer new enterprises that impact surrounding communities and the global economy. It creates a friendly atmosphere.
Matt Clark, a professor at the center, said the speaker series brings together local entrepreneurs each semester to discuss entrepreneurship in the community.
Clark said CETD is partnering with TechFW, a nonprofit that helps entrepreneurs start and grow technology companies, to create programs for their summer programs EpICMavs and Deep Dive. he said.
This week’s series will focus on “thinking like an entrepreneur,” with Hayden Blackburn, executive director of TechFW, as the speaker. Other topics throughout the 10-week program include designed thinking, financing your business, market strategy, and building your brand with AI.
In addition to entrepreneurs in the community, Clark said he is also inviting UTA faculty to share their insights in their areas of expertise.
The Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology Development is home to EpICMavs, which helps students with their businesses. EpICMavs is free and available to students, faculty, and staff.
He said the series aims to provide insight into creating a venture, whether it’s a start-up, a side hustle or a hobby, while creating a community of people who share a curiosity about entrepreneurship.
Regardless of the major, Clark said he feels anyone can benefit from the series. Even if you don’t want to start a business, an entrepreneurial mindset can help you with your career path, he said.
“That’s how I leveraged my skills, knowledge and experience professionally through an entrepreneurial mindset,” he said. “So I think there are some great lessons for everyone, really.
Clark said the series can be restarted every six months because students often enjoy the conversation and camaraderie that comes from participating in the series. The center has been in place since 2020, and participation has increased each semester, he said.
