release date:
After a lackluster start to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Senegal, the reigning champions of the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations, secured a long-awaited boost to their competition hopes with an important win over Colombia on Sunday, February 18th. It gave me a lifeline.
The African champions got off to a shaky start with a disappointing 6-4 loss to Belarus in their first match, but showed their mettle in Sunday’s second Group C match, coming from behind to beat Colombia 5-3.
With this victory, Senegal gained confidence and took second place in their group, tied with Japan on three points, making it an epic clash to decide whether they would finish second and advance to the final tournament.
Senegal’s goals came thanks to in-form Mandian Diagne, who scored twice against Belarus, Papa Ndoye, Raoul Mendy, Ousseynou Fay and Mamoul Diagne.
Meanwhile, Egypt lost to Italy 2-6 in the second group stage match, ending their chances of advancing further.
The North Africans lost 2-1 to hosts United Arab Emirates on the first day of the tournament and needed at least a point to keep their ambitions alive.
They will be looking to finish the competition in style when they take on the USA on Monday.
