In the fifth homicide in 24 hours in Birmingham, a man was found murdered outside a small business off the Bessemer Super Highway Sunday morning.
It was discovered by a passerby just after 10 a.m. at 6233 Brockton Avenue, in the Bessemer, Brighton, Midfield and Lipscomb neighborhoods of Birmingham.
Officer Truman Fitzgerald said he received a call from a person outside what appeared to be a restaurant or club. The name on the door says El Rincon, but I could tell right away if that was its current name.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, had obvious trauma, but Fitzgerald said it was too early to tell whether he had been shot, stabbed or punched.
He was near the sidewalk near the store entrance.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the man dead at the scene.
