An irate tire shop owner in Florida is facing attempted murder charges after he allegedly shot and killed a landscaper across the street who blew leaves onto his property.
Police told WTVJ that on Friday afternoon, Claudio Arendel, 52, the owner of P&P Auto Tire Shop in Gladeview, Florida, shot and killed a man after the two got into an argument.
The landscaper was tasked with removing leaves from a client’s property before they began to fall on the property in Arendelle.
Witnesses told the outlet they heard two gunshots and then saw a man fall to the ground with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his leg.
According to CBS Miami, the unidentified man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and was upgraded to a stable room.
Video taken by a witness showed the landscaper sitting on the street in front of a pool of blood, holding his leg, and another man wearing a fluorescent yellow shirt holding the man down with his leg.
Police can then be seen handcuffing the two behind their backs.
Arendelle was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree premeditated murder, a felony, and is being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to court records.
Judge Tom Rebel ordered Arendelle held without bail during his first court appearance Saturday.
It is unclear whether the other person in custody has been charged in connection with the shooting.
One person, whose family is a customer at the auto shop, defended Arendelle, saying he was just protecting his property.
“It was something bad. They just verbally abused (Arendelle) and (he) is defending his workplace,” the man told WTVJ.
“They’re nice people. I have my kids bring their cars to him to get fixed. So does my brother and all the neighbors.”
Gladeview is located in northeast Miami-Dade County, approximately 11 miles from downtown Miami.
