Bardiya, December 31: Women entrepreneurs in Bardiya are expressing their enthusiasm following the launch of the industrial village project by the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Associations of Nepal (FWEAN). The local government has promised to invest in the project if FWEAN provides the land needed to build the industrial village.
The program, organized by women entrepreneurs based in the district of Gurriya city, had Muktinath Yadav, mayor of Gurriya city, and Shobha Gyawali, central president of FWEAN, as the guests of honor. Mayor Yadav assured that the local government is committed to working with FWEAN to strengthen the involvement of women entrepreneurs in the region.
FWEAN President Gyawali emphasized the importance of joint efforts between the central and local governments for the advancement of women entrepreneurs. He highlighted FWEAN’s active presence in his 66 districts and his 30-year history of supporting women’s business activities. Ms. Gyawali emphasized the importance of educating women in rural areas about their rights and responsibilities and expressed the federation’s goal to expand its presence to all 77 districts.
Given the lack of industrial villages in the district, Gyawali highlighted the challenges women face in becoming entrepreneurs. She urged the local government to invest in the construction of industrial villages, predicting that it would have a positive impact on the living standards of all women in the region.
Mayor Yadav acknowledged that the participation of women entrepreneurs in the city is relatively low compared to cooperatives and associations. He praised the efforts of women entrepreneurs and encouraged them to advocate for their rights, especially when it comes to budget allocation. Mr. Yadav announced that Gurriya Municipality is ready to invest Rs 20,000,000 crore in the construction of an industrial village.
FWEAN 3rd Vice President Basanti Pradhan and FWEAN Lumbini District President Saraswati Sharma advocated for local government support and investment to empower women entrepreneurs. They emphasized that encouraging and investing in women entrepreneurs contributes to their growth and development as organizations scale.
