ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Entrepreneurs can turn their ideas into new opportunities for the region with the Gauntlet Business Program and Competition.
The program has been empowering change-makers for 10 years through a 10-week program that includes networking, resources, and the chance to win funding for their business plans.
The Advancement Foundation is the organization behind The Gauntlet and is inviting people looking to start a new business or expand their operations to register for this year’s program.
Annette Patterson, founder of the Advancement Foundation, and previous Gauntlet winners Mindi and Travis Hundley join Here@Home to discuss how the series teaches entrepreneurs critical skills for success. I have explained in detail what is going on.
Handleys won the 2023 competition, taking home $23,690 in prize money and prize money. They are owners of Wellness Bar in Uptown Martinsville, and Smith is currently considering expanding to his Mountain Lake location.
Patterson said The Gauntlet is looking to the future and launching a community investment fund with the goal of raising $580,000 and launching 200 businesses within the next 18 months.
There is still time to apply to the program, with an orientation scheduled for Tuesday, January 30th at 6pm. If you are interested, please visit the Advancement Foundation website for more information or contact Gauntlet@theadvancementfoundation.org.
