BALTIMORE — Charm City is glowing purple. From the rooftop of Baltimore City Hall to the Under Armor sign above the water to the brick buildings of Fells Point, it’s hard not to feel the Ravens fever.
Our local economy is already benefiting from the AFC Championship game in Baltimore. This is the first game in our city since the days of Memorial Stadium.
Regardless of who wins on the soccer field, the game has already proven a win for local businesses during this usually quiet time of year.
“This is extremely important,” said director Maureen Cameron. “I think it’s been a long time coming for this city,” he said of Vernon’s hotel revival sales. “Everyone is very excited.”
When Cameron finished work on Friday, capacity for the coming weekend was about 40 per cent. We arrived here on a Monday and it was over 90% booked.
“Normally this time of year is very slow. January and February are slow months, especially for the hotel industry in this region,” Prime Minister Cameron said. “So the influx of people into the city is slow. “It’s a huge help to everyone.” This is a hotel. ”
It’s not just local hotels. Let’s go back to Fell’s Point. It’s a classic weekend entertainment spot and it’s back for another big weekend.
“The last time they played in the AFC Championship, this town went crazy. It wasn’t even a home game,” recalled Gail Furman of Max’s Taphouse.
The bar hosted a group of Texans fans last week. Even if those fans were rooting for a losing team, they came all the way from out of town to enjoy Baltimore.
“It’s just exciting, it’s great, it’s great to have people in town. It’s great to have people coming and going at all the businesses, retail stores, hotels, restaurants, bars,” Furman added.
The Ravens announced that tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The game will be played on Sunday, January 28th at 3pm.
