WINTERVILLE, N.C. — Pitt Community College’s search for the perfect candidate to oversee its small business center essentially ended in the college’s backyard when the college hired Hall Nobles as director.
Nobles, a Farmville native, began working at the university this month and is already meeting with clients to promote entrepreneurship in Pitt County. In addition to helping new businesses get up and running, we also help entrepreneurs expand their small businesses and reevaluate their business strategies.
“I love meeting new people because everyone has a unique experience and background,” Nobles says. “We’re really looking forward to bringing your ideas to life.”
A graduate of East Carolina University, Nobles earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in international business from the school in 2019 and a master’s degree in business administration in 2021. She also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Marketing and a Bachelor of Arts degree at ECU. She will pursue a PhD in foreign languages and literature with a concentration in German.
Prior to working at PCC, Nobles spent two years as a lecturer in international business and management at his alma mater. She also has experience in business counseling and specializes in social media marketing and international management. According to her, her biggest customers were travel influencers on Facebook and her Instagram where she has 1.5 million followers.
“My goal is to help people,” Nobles says. “I provide free assistance to people in the Pitt County community who are interested in starting their own businesses or expanding their existing businesses.”
PCC’s Small Business Center provides one-on-one counseling and other business resources, as well as high-quality training opportunities to help future and existing small business owners in the region succeed, and Pitt County This will lead to the creation and retention of jobs.
“The PCC Small Business Center offers free seminars every week, so if you’re interested in starting your own business, it’s a great place to start,” Nobles said. “Local entrepreneurs, please don’t hesitate to ask questions or schedule an appointment. I’m here to help them succeed.”
Located in the Robert Lee Humber Building on Pitt’s main campus, the PCC Small Business Center is a positive force in Pitt County’s economic development. It is part of the North Carolina Small Business Center Network, which is comprised of his SBCs at each of the state’s 58 community colleges.
In 2016, Pitt’s SBC was the best in the state for small business startups, according to the North Carolina Community College System’s Small Business Center Network Metrics.
