Hawaii public school students create products using locally grown ingredients and products such as coffee, lavender, macadamia nuts, butter, fruits, vegetables, and herbs as part of an entrepreneurship program sponsored by the Hawaii Agriculture Foundation. I am.
Fifteen HIDOE schools are participating in this year’s Young Entrepreneurs Program. This program is designed to help students from 6th grade to her 12th grade develop a real, profitable business using original, locally grown produce. Companies receive startup funding and students learn entrepreneurial skills such as business planning, production, marketing, sales, and fulfillment.
The Hawaii Agriculture Foundation recently launched an online marketplace to showcase student products. Featured products include macarons made with Kauai coffee and Aliikura lavender made by Pearl City High School students, pineapple and starfruit marmalade made by Baldwin High School students, and “Uki Uki Berry” made by Waipahu High School students. These include infused soy wax candles.
Now through March 31st, the public can purchase products through the online marketplace and pick them up at the Kapiolani Community College Farmers Market on Saturday, April 6th. Pick-up at school can also be arranged.
The Marketplace includes products from the following participating schools:
- “Aiea High” – Mamaki Ki (tea bag or freshly brewed)
- baldwin high school – Dried pineapple, Karo chips, pineapple star fruit marmalade, mac nut pesto
- Hana High School – Lau Nahel Lotion/Conditioner/Hair Rinse
- Honokaa High Intermediate – Paalaea paakai (salt blend), chili pepper water
- “Ilima Intermediate” – Coconazz Chocolate Covered Banana Treats
- Kahuku High School and Intermediate – Assorted lilikoi pepper jelly, sourdough pizza and dried fruit board
- cow high – Chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies
- Kaimuki Middle School – A bite of banana
- kauai high – Kipi Uala Chips
- Keaau Hai – lemon butter
- Mililani High – Paakai Herbal Blend
- pearl city high school – Coffee and lavender macarons
- Waiakea High – Locally sourced sugar scrub
- Waipafu High – Pohina Hina and Lavender Lotion Bar
- washington middle – Shiso tea
