Hawks Center’s Clint Capela talks to first-generation business owners while learning about financial health education
Atlanta – On Saturday, Hawks and Chase worked with five first-generation “new entrepreneurs” to empower them to improve their financial health and understanding of business finance through educational workshops. Following the workshop at the Chase Summerhill branch, both organizations surprised the entrepreneurs with a fireside chat with Hawks center Clint Capela.
The conversation focused on Capela’s journey navigating finances throughout his NBA career. After the fireside conversation, Mr. Capella revealed that Hawks and Chase will donate $5,000 to each small business to provide further support for their continued growth and development.

Entrepreneurs who participated in the event included a variety of businesses ranging from food and beverage to book publishing. Companies include Cal Industries Heat and Air, Kronchy, Youth Authors Publishing, Minoities in Sports, and MoreLyfe Juice.
All small business owners are first-generation entrepreneurs.
The event began with lunch and networking for entrepreneurs, followed by opening remarks from Matilda Lambert, Community Manager at Chase’s Summerhill Community Center.
“Small businesses are not only the foundation of our nation, but also the foundation of the financial health and wealth of our communities. By providing them with the tools and resources they need to foster continued growth, we We are here to empower Atlanta’s small businesses and put them on the path to business success,” said Lambert. “We are proud to work with the Hawks to continue to boost Atlanta’s small businesses.”
Entrepreneurs attended four workshops focused on financial health to help them grow during their business development journey. The workshop emphasized the importance of building and maintaining credit, how to set goals through budgeting and savings, analyzing the power of capital, and managing cash flow.
This event is the latest in Hawks and Chase’s commitment to supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs. Earlier this month, to celebrate Black History Month, Hawks Shop & Chase collaborated with local Atlanta lifestyle brand ATL Alumni to create two new stylish pieces that reflect the team’s identity and the city’s culture of creativity and innovation. On Friday night, the Hawks hosted the 6th annual “HBCU Night Presented by Chase” at the award-winning State Farm Arena. The organization celebrated the educational excellence and unique culture of more than 100 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), which were originally established as institutions of higher education for African Americans. All fans in attendance received a special rally towel courtesy of Chase.
In October 2022, the Atlanta Hawks and JPMorgan Chase announced a new agreement to expand and grow their combined partnership.
