Alice Whitman Chapter DAR Honors Orofino Elementary School
LEWISTON, ID: The Daughters of the American Revolution Junior Membership Committee, sponsored by the Alice Whitman Chapter of the American Association of Daughters of the Revolution, awards a 2023 Helen Porch Memorial Fund Classroom Grant to Orofino Elementary School and teacher Nicole Faulk. Awarded.
The purpose of the Helen Porch Memorial Fund (HPMF) Classroom Grant is to support DAR’s educational support. One of the goals of DAR’s Junior Membership Committee is to help as many students as possible. This $500 grant is sponsored by the local DAR chapter, which awards up to four ($500) grants per year per state to support kindergarten through 12th grade classrooms and teachers. We support you. Projects proposed by teachers must directly benefit the students in the classroom. HPMF grants may be used for supplies and educational resources to directly impact students.
Ms. Nicole Faulk, a teacher at Orofino Elementary School, said she wanted students to learn how to design and print using this technology, and then create a project where students could participate and create and print their own projects. We submitted an application requesting a 3D printer, software, and filament. . She hopes to get a printer this school year and have her students complete their projects by the end of May 2024. Orofino Elementary School has 350 students and is located in Joint School District 171 in Orofino, Idaho.
“We are excited to bring this opportunity into the classroom for students to experience and interact with real-world devices that will become products of the future,” said Ms. Falk.
The Helen Porch Memorial Fund is named in memory of Helen Porch, 1901-1919. Helen was the daughter of Helena R. Pauch, who became the first national chair of the Junior Membership Committee in 1937 and then from 1941 until 1944. The Helen Porch Memorial Fund, chartered in 1938, funds projects selected by the Junior Membership Committee with the approval of the NSDAR Executive Committee.
