WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Dwight Haywood is no stranger to the Wichita Falls area and business world.
After having to close once due to personal reasons in 2007.
Last year, he showed that hard work and community support can make a difference in the world.
“It’s been a struggle, a big struggle here. I’ve had a lot of help. I couldn’t have made it without my community,” said Dwight Heywood, owner of One & Sons. .

February is Black History Month, so I asked Heywood how his business plans to celebrate.
“We’re here. Just being here. Just the presence of being here. There are very few people here at this time,” Heywood said.
He went on to say that supporting Black businesses is about survival.
“Because without it, we can’t survive as a human race. We can’t do without it. It’s working with the community. Without Black-owned businesses, circulating money into the community. “We can’t do that,” Haywood said.
When it comes to Black History Month, Haywood is proud of it.
“That means everything to me. I couldn’t be more proud of my history, my ancestry, and where I come from. If you don’t know where you come from, you don’t know where you’re going. I I’m proud to be a Black American in this country. I love America.” Haywood said.
Haywoods says that’s difficult for entrepreneurs of all races.
When it comes to community participation. Haywood helped young men start a laundromat and even handed out free meals during the Christmas holidays.
After achieving my goal of opening Wangs and Thangs. Haywood now wants to light a fire for the rest of the community.
