Hurdler champion Grant Holloway set a new world record in the 60-meter event at the U.S. Indoor Championships in New Mexico on Friday.
Holloway, a three-time world champion and Olympic silver medalist in the 110-meter hurdles, finished in Albuquerque in 7.27 seconds, bettering her previous world record of 7.29 seconds.
The 26-year-old from Virginia was already guaranteed a spot on the U.S. team for next month’s world championships as the reigning world indoor champion, but he will miss Friday’s final after his record-breaking run. selected.
Holloway’s world record also matched the women’s 60m hurdles, with Tia Jones tying the existing world record with a time of 7.67 seconds in her heat.

Elsewhere on Friday, Tara Davis-Woodhall made her breakthrough with an impressive performance that led her to lead the world in the long jump. Davis Woodhall won easily with a jump of 7.18m on her fifth jump, while Jasmine Moore took second place with a jump of 6.93m.
The US Indoor Championships are the team selection trials for this year’s World Indoor Championships, which will be held in Glasgow from March 1-3.
