LINCOLN — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Commerce and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Commerce have announced the 2,024 inductees to the Nebraska Business Hall of Fame. Sid Dinsdale, Chairman of Pinnacle Bancorp. Lance Fritz is the former chairman, president and CEO of Union Pacific Railroad.

“This year’s honorees include some of Nebraska’s most influential business leaders,” said NE Chamber of Commerce President Brian Sloan. “Their innovative aspirations, grit and business success are just the tip of the iceberg. They have also made outstanding contributions to their communities and the state as a whole.”

Steve and Jason Hornady, Hornady Manufacturing, Grand Island

Steve and Jason Hornady are president and vice president of Hornady Manufacturing Company in Grand Island. This company was started by Steve’s father Joyce in 1949. Steve took over the leadership of the company from his father in 1981, and Jason also succeeded his father. Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, he joined the family business in 2006.

Steve Hornady is a lifelong marksman, avid hunter, and advocate for the shooting sports industry. A lifelong Nebraska resident, he began his career with Hornady Manufacturing in 1971. Ten years later, after his father’s death, he took over the company and led Hornady to what it is today.

Jason Hornady grew up in Grand Island and worked in Hornady Manufacturing’s ballistics lab as a teenager. After graduating from the University of Wyoming in 1992, Jason worked for Sportco Marketing, Redfield Riflescopes, Dunkin-Lewis, and returned to the family company in 2006 as Director of Sales.

Jason and his father, Steve, both serve on several boards and are involved with the NRA, the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers Association, and the National Shooting Sports Foundation.

Steve was named the 2005 Shooting Industry Man of the Year by the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence and was recognized by the NRA as a Golden Bullseye Pioneer Award recipient in 2013.

In 2019, Hornady Manufacturing was named Ammunition Manufacturer of the Year for the ninth time by the National Sporting Goods Wholesalers Association.

Sid Dinsdale is chairman of Pinnacle Bancorp, which owns four bank charters: Pinnacle Bank Nebraska, Bank of Colorado, Pinnacle Bank Texas, and Pinnacle Bank Wyoming. We are a 100% owned and family run business.

He grew up in Palmer, a town of 425 people near Grand Island, where he worked in his family’s feedlots, hayfields and irrigation projects.

After graduating from Palmer High School, Dinsdale attended Hastings College and then transferred to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, graduating with a degree in finance. She then attended graduate school in baking at the University of Colorado and completed the President’s Program at Harvard University.

He is a member of the Omaha Business Hall of Fame and the UNL Business School Hall of Fame. He and his wife Dawn were named “Aksarben’s Most Honored Citizens” in 2022. Dinsdale served as governor of Aksarben and served on the boards of Midlands Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Humane Society, STRATCOM Advisory Board, and University of Nebraska Foundation. , among others.

He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Methodist Health System, the Board of Directors of Ameritas Life Insurance, and the Board of Directors of Banks and Holding Companies.

Lance Fritz served as Union Pacific’s chairman, president and chief executive officer for eight years, retiring in 2023. He assumed these positions in 2015 and was also elected to the company’s board of directors.

He began his career with Union Pacific in July 2000 as vice president of marketing and sales and general manager of energy for Union Pacific. Since then, Fritz has served as Executive Vice President of Operations, Vice President of Labor Relations, and President and Chief Operating Officer.

Fritz graduated from Bucknell University and received a master’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University. He serves on the boards of directors of Parker Hannifin Corporation, Business Roundtable, Business Council, Nebraska Medical Association, Omaha Animal Society, STRATCOM Advisory Board, and the Association of American Railroads.

He also serves on Georgia Tech’s President’s Advisory Board.

Founded in 1862, Union Pacific operates one of North America’s largest railroad franchises, covering 23 states in the western two-thirds of the United States.

These people are comprised of more than 135 business leaders whose efforts to grow their businesses in Nebraska have had a significant impact on Nebraska’s economy, overall employment opportunities, and the quality of life in their communities. Participating in a group. Candidates are nominated by individuals from the business community, economic organizations, and academia. This program was established in his 1992 by the NE Chamber and UNL College of Business.
