India are the most successful team in the history of the Men’s U-19 World Cup, with some of the team’s biggest stars of the past two decades emerging in this tournament. Now, Uday Saharan’s new Indian team will be looking to defend their title and take their win tally to six when they take on Bangladesh in the first match of the 2024 tournament in South Africa.
The five-time winners, who sit in Group A, begin their campaign against their Asian rivals at Manko Oval before heading to other group matches against Ireland and America. Since winning their first trophy in 2002 under coach Mohammad Kaif, the Indian team has gone on to win the U-19 World Cup in 2008, 2012, 2018 and 2022.
The event, which was moved from Sri Lanka to South Africa following a late adjustment by the ICC, will feature four groups of equal numbers of teams each. The top three teams from each group qualify for the Super Six, followed by the semi-finals on February 6th and 8th, and the final on February 11th in Benoni.
