Smith Brothers McAndrew Insurance plans to move to a new location in the coming months.

The kitchen will be removed and closed until the next phase of renovation. Bisaillon said many other restaurant owners were able to take out some of their equipment.

ADAMS, Mass. — A longtime Park Street business is moving to another Park Street landmark.

David Bisaillon of Smith Brothers McAndrew Insurance is moving his 125-year-old company into the former Red Carpet Restaurant.

“It meant a lot to me,” he said Wednesday. “For more than 125 years, we have always been active in what’s happening in the Town of Adams, and this gives us the opportunity to be an investor in the building rather than a renter. ”

Bisaillon sees this move as an active support of the town and a tangible investment in its future.

“We have to discuss the future of Adams with Park Street. There’s a lot going on right now and, to be honest, that had a big impact on our decision to invest in the acquisition. “I really feel like we’re heading in the right direction,” he said, citing new businesses that have opened, the Rail Trail and the Greylock Glen project. “I’ve been here since I was born, and I feel like there’s no better time than now to be a part of what’s going on and Adams.”

Smith Brothers McAndrew is temporarily staying at 45 Park after having to vacate its last office due to building issues. Over the years it has been in various locations up and down Park Street.

Bisaillon said Park Street is the company’s roots, although it may have worked well off Main Street.

“We’ve always been tenants and that’s been great. But the opportunity presented itself and we have no intention of going anywhere else,” he said. “That’s why the Park Street building makes sense.”

SBM currently has five employees and could add more once the move is complete. Bisaillon noted that the location is well known, with a parking lot in the back and a police station nearby.

Keith DeDominisi had purchased the property from Haddad and Bartlett in 2021. Bisaillon, as 69 Park Street LLC, purchased the building from him on Dec. 21 for $235,000.

Since then, he has been slowly emptying out the restaurant. Most of the booths were gone, and other customers had taken supplies from the kitchen.

Work to convert the building into offices will proceed in stages, with the front dining area, bathrooms and back entrance completed first. The kitchen will be closed for now and will be converted into a conference room, office and rest area in the future. The apartment on the upper floor is occupied, but there are no plans to change it.

“I think [the contractors] We’re going to give it our all for a month and then we’ll have a good idea of where we are…but I’m optimistic and hope to be here within the next few months. ” Bisaillon said.

He said he spoke with Haddad and Bartlett and “they’re happy that it’s our agency, which is great. We’re going to be the next owners of this space.” I did,” he said.

And he said he’s heard all the jokes about getting sandwiches and insurance now.

“Unfortunately, all we’re trying to set up is a good deal on insurance,” he laughed. “We won’t be red carpet. But like I said, we will continue to give our customers red carpet treatment.”
