Founded by local entrepreneur Diego Solis, Open World HR is a company that provides international staffing and employee outsourcing solutions.
When Solis began planning to provide affordable employees to small business owners, he researched resource options and found the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at U of A.
The help he received from consultant Stephanie Parsons made a huge difference in refining his ideas. “Stephanie heard about the project and believed in it,” Solis said. “When I saw this, I thought maybe I could do it too!”
Open HR remotely hires skilled full-time contractors from Mexico who are fluent in English. This allows us to provide lower-cost services than the market and pay superior wages to Mexican workers due to the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Mexican peso. “We help small and medium-sized businesses optimize output, accelerate growth and reduce labor costs,” Solis said.
Mutual cooperation between experts at ASBTDC was beneficial to the start of this project. Bilingual consultant Carolina Mejia worked to connect Solis with the Hispanic community, as culturally this market is more likely to hire from its own country. She also took advantage of the quarterly training provided by the center. “They were able to connect us with people and other free resources to expand our knowledge,” Solis said. “Every day I learned something new about accounting, law or sales.”
Solis advises those looking to start a business to work with ASBTDC. “Look no further. They truly care about everyone who asks for help.”
